Stephen Schott’s extensive experience in industry enables him to solve legal problems in ways that work for the businesses of his clients. He has provided legal advice and services for joint development, licensing, patent sale and corporate transactions, as well as for design around and offensive and defensive patent activities. He has managed and advised on patent portfolios and patent litigation. He has significant experience dealing with non-US intellectual property issues.
Stephen Schott was the Director of Patents at Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation for eight years, as well as an associate and counsel in two top-tier law firms. Since 2009 he has had his own practice.
Stephen Schott has advised clients in the fields of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment, integrated circuits and discrete semiconductor devices, biomedical, automotive, alternative energy, consumer products and jewelry.
Education
J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1996. Course concentrations in intellectual property and corporate law.
M.A. in English from the University of Cincinnati in 1991.
M.S. in Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985. Thesis work made use of semiconductor processing techniques.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine in 1982.
